About Oster

At Oster Elementary, we are strongly committed to creating a safe school environment and to offering learning experiences which:

Meeting the needs of the “whole child” socially, emotionally and academically permeates Oster and the parent community. The structuring of Oster into grade level teams which utilize interdisciplinary instruction between teachers provides the backdrop for developing this common vision. Intensive review of current research shows that the interdisciplinary teaming structure offers a highly effective way of organizing the school in terms of curriculum, instruction, and resources, both human and material. This vision is formally evaluated yearly to assure that goals are being met and that the needs of our diverse population are being served.

Oster proudly shares their campus with the County’s Deaf and Hard of Hearing program. A group of students from this program are completely mainstreamed into Oster classrooms with the assistance of signing interpreters. The entire DHOH study body is integrated into Oster’s lunch and recess programs with great success.

Oster takes enormous pride in the level of high quality parent participation on campus. This invaluable resource assists in helping teachers deliver a quality program and ensuring student success. Under the direction and leadership of the School Site Council and Home and School Club parents and members of the Oster Ecosystem are provided with a multitude of opportunities for valued involvement.

Oster’s many traditions have evolved from a strong belief in the need to draw upon multiple forms of intelligence while providing opportunities for student expression and recognition. Many activities and services are delivered to help promote a well-rounded educational experience for students at all levels of need and ability.
