What to expect in 3rd Grade Third Grade is an important developmental year. Students go from "learning to read" to "reading to learn." Inference and "reading between the lines" become important to understand and fully appreciate an author's intent. It is a time of growing independence and self-discovery as the student becomes an independent learner.
Homework: Homework, Monday - consists of 20 minutes nightly reading, 10 minutes of math facts practice (multiplication and division), and 1 page of Eureka Math each night. |
Eureka Math: Student math lessons include strategies to help them think, apply logic, and solve multi-step problems. Students begin to develop abstract thinking skills. Our learning apps in math are: Jiji, Happy Numbers, Zearn, & XtraMath -- our source for checking fluency. eSpark is a wonderful program that adapts to each student's individual skills. ** eSpark is a great for 3rd graders to practice skills for the state standardized tests in late April. |
