Well again Welcome everybody to our TK Kinder Oster presentation I'm going to go ahead and get started I'm going to share my screen okay my team can give me thumbs up you guys can see that okay not seeming to move my little slide deck all right here we go so again this is just something that we annually do to just to welcome our families answer any questions that you guys might have about Kindergarten if you were in person and I've already held two sessions in person and we did a small school tour I like at this moment too kind of asked which are my family is for the first time are joining the public school system and this is kind of your fur Journey you'd be amazed how many families like raise their hand I would say at least 75 per-cent of our families coming on for kindergarten or t k it's the first time their child is joining us in the public education system We're excited to have you I mentioned this earlier it is community and we like to call it our Oster family this is just the beginning in enrolling in kindergarten or transitional kindergarten or whether first grade or fifth grade that your student will be attending with us tonight it is a community of friends and other families that you guys will become connected with and what's great about it is our kids get to know each other in this grade level can I move together and you get to know each other student names other students families you organize play dates so this is kind of your try so get excited because this is an opportunity for you guys just kind of branch out and send to know your neighbors in your community in and is part of our Oscar Family I'm going to this is why I don't like this okay. I did earlier introduce my team and for those that just joined us I'm tonight we have our Kinder teachers we have Miss Michaels Debbie Rogers Linda Cline and TK teacher Tara Mandanici and also our am extended care coordinator Carmella Combs joining us I want to just reassure you and I mentioned this earlier Oster probably is my favorite school that I've ever worked at for many reasons but one of those reasons and is Kinder team we have the best Kindwer team and the whole District including TK class it's kind of magical down there probably my favorite place to go visit when my day gets long and hard am I often confined rainbows and butterflies and feel very calm I'm going to this room although I don't know if the teachers would describe it as calm but it is pretty magical and so I'm very very proud to have this team with me and do I have your students experience what it is that they deliver in their curriculum and just and their love and support that they give to her students I want to share a little bit about TK so TK's is not new to Oscar we've always had transitional kindergarten as I mentioned Tara's our teacher this year for TK we have expanded the age eligibility so if your child has a birthday between September 2nd and April 2nd in the following school year in the coming school year they are eligible or transitional kindergarten out this is where I get a lot of questions for family said child has a birthday that falls on September 15th we obviously are qualified to attend transition transitional kindergarten however we think we're ready for them to start kindergarten how do we start kindergarten well this is where I hate to burst the bubble but Ed code and there are some flexibility we have a students entering grades unfortunately TK and K where is the grade level that we really don't have a lot of flexibility it is a hard line with these dates so if your student has a birthday that falls within this range September 2nd and April 2nd where they turn 5 they will be in our transitional kindergarten class when you go to enroll and I'll talk about that in just a minute this system automatically forces you to enroll ntk if their birthday falls within that window do some parents say I tried to register for kindergarten but it wouldn't let me it's because the birthday window is falling within that September 2nd to April 2nd timeline we I mentioned Tara is a fabulous teacher the ratio is 1 to 12 with our students in that class with the adults Tara has an aide that works with her every single day and she works very very closely with our Kinder team and they work to align just instructional minutes they have the same recess says they have lunch together they do they're planning together it's a very cohesive group although the kindergarten and the TK curriculum is slightly different there are standards for kindergarten specifically as well as transitional kindergarten and I tell parents this all the time please don't worry because parents they will I think my son is ready or my daughter is ready for kindergarten we want we want them to be challenged Tara is fabulous about differentiating her instruction all of our Kinder teachers are we know that our kids come in with a range of abilities socially emotionally and academically and so teachers are the experts in differentiating instruction inspection and meeting the students where they're at so if a student in TK is ready to start writing or they're starting to read sentences or they know all their letters and sounds that's fantastic That's Not Unusual I'm again we have a range of students that the in their learning abilities if they don't that's okay to Tara will meet their needs and differentiate her instruction to where their abilities are I'm at again that's across the board in rtk class and also are Kinder class and I and I very common we have students that are non readers and are just barely learning their letters and sounds and then we have those that can write their full name and almost master the alphabet so it's It's Not Unusual we encounter that our standards we obviously align our curriculum to the California state standards for teaching instruction at it's across any Public you will find these there are public knowledge one of the things we take pride in is we at here in Oster really focus on educating the whole student and so we we value and put a large emphasis of an instruction on the academics but we also recognize that our students need the social emotional I'm support as well especially those that have recently come out through the pandemic and we know we had many of our students who did not attend preschool or very limited amount of preschool I'm in so those social skills and learning to interact with each other is very very critical we have a program that we use here in our school is called Kimochis our teachers love it our students love it that's something that we embed almost daily if not weekly into our schedule and the students begin to learn just common language on on how to navigate was kind of big emotions making friendships asking others how do they play Just again basic social skills that we expect students to be learning and practicing and t.k. and kindergarten we also PBIS is cool we are in the process of getting ready to launch our second year of being a PBIS school so we recognize positive student Behavior that's an emphasis is that something again or teachers take pride in and we all support our students with social emotional learning with project Cornerstone that is a curriculum that we use parent volunteers to come in and read literature stories and do activities and lessons with our students and that supported through our home and school club so again we have lots of opportunities not only for the academics are Reading Writing and math all through kindergarten in 2K but also just that social emotional learning we have a STEAM lab and sometimes teachers will have the ability to take their kids down to the steam lab sometimes we do special projects using steam activities sometimes we have parents come in and do presentations around steam activities again that something that we offer within our Creek elem and anytime has a specialty org if they'd like to come in and do an activity with the kids the teachers always welcome that parent volunteer opportunities are abundant within our school so we always welcome. what to expect okay this is where I talked a little bit about just kind of the balance between the academics and the social emotional which again we think is really really important but also we promote independence with our students this is really really important because again this is just the beginning stages as we get ready to prepare them for their career and education so teachers do this in a number of activities obviously within their classroom but they do whole class and they also do it in small group teachers regularly meet with students in small group for both the reading the writing and math instruction also utilize parent volunteers to come in and run some of the academic group so that again teachers are meeting the students at their academic level again just differentiate their instructions is what we call it promoting the independence. Here is what we need parents help it's really really important in preparation for these grades that your student is learning if if they're not already doing so making sure that they can get dressed by themselves they can put things in their backpack are you practice having them carry a pack learning to tie their shoes or keep their shoes on or velcro you using the bathroom by themselves holding a pen or pencil these are all really really important things that we we hope that our students have prior to coming to us and again we recognize there's there is a variety of a spectrum of kids and their needs and kind of where they are in this process and the teachers are very skilled at having those conversations with parents and encouraging students to be independent and building and fostering that for each individual student our school day is what we call a modified staggered start initially when we start kindergarten or the transitional kindergarden the first six weeks of school we are a half day so that time is from 8:45 to 7:25 and then after the six weeks starting Monday October 2nd students will be in kindergarten and Pre-K 4 full day so the time that they're dismissed is 1:30 on the only exception that to that is on Wednesdays where we have our early release day but again this is something that you know again we like to share with our parents because I think a lot of this information is new it's a lot to take in it can get confusing and we understand so please don't worry there's opportunity for questions and again this slide with a specific dates and times is posted on our website so that's really helpful I think her parents when they're trying to navigate and provide proper daycare for their student when we are on those Decker start times and this is only true for our TK & Kinder if your child is in first grade through fifth grade they have a regular school day our day starts at 8:15 that's when the first bell rings your day ends at 2:40 our school bell is posted on our school website and we do provide opportunities on Wednesday for a teacher collaboration days that's true for every single Wednesday and again it gets tricky for parents to kind of remember. I was a Kinder parent. I was a principal and my daughter was in kindergarten and I had a hard time memorizing all of this and keeping it straight so we recognize this use our website to really help and I gate and then we also send reminders as we get closer to the date whenever it's early release Wednesday we know parents forget will send reminders out and then Kinder teachers and our regular grade-level teacher send reminders so don't worry you'll get get lots of information coming from us about those changes okay I talked a little bit about this and getting your student ready for kindergarten here's some basic things that we ask that parents you work on in between now and August when school starts again identifying color names letter names following simple directions cutting with scissors playing cooperatively organizing those playgroups making sure that they are right how to use the restroom by themselves that's really importantantant I will say the question always comes up you guys have restrooms in the in the t.k. and Kinder classes rooms we do and they are single stall in our Kinder classrooms but in our TK classroom there's a different stall and again we encourage students to be independent and that TK's a little different in the fact that we have an aid in there to kind of help facilitate and of course the teacher also helps with that but it's really important that our students come already potty trained and again there's lots of activities that you can do with your student in between now and then and we just ask that you work on that one of the things too that it's not listed here but I always like to mention it during those first 6 weeks that we're doing the transition the kids come to school with a snack and if they're not used to opening a snack or going through their snack or even really eating on their own sometimes we find kids really have not done that independently yet sometimes parents are still may be feeding them we really really really really need to encourage you to make sure they can do that independently because otherwise we've got I think close to 100 120 kids. and there's only so many adults and you can imagine all the little kids saying can you open this it's a little busy a little crazy and while we have yard Duty helping us it's really important that kids practice has skill so again we asked our families to keep that in mind I should add that on the slide I always forget every year to add that but again just eating independently in and being able to open their snack and get themselves dressed get their backpacks on be responsible for their personal belongings again this is something that teachers all work on but we we just ask parents kind of start to work on that in between now and August okay let's talk about kindergarten so sometimes I have parents on here interested in saying how do I start kindergarten does my even qualify similar to T K in order to be in kindergarten and this is like a hard-line students must turn five on or before September 1st 2023 do they have a birthday September 2nd Unfortunately they are in t.k. and and again there's a pretty hard-line there and so when you go to enroll your student it will automatically force them if your student is not five and not even for in that window for TK Or K they are not eligible for either sometimes I have parents attending these meetings just a little curious thing will win Candy you have to fall within those windows to be age-appropriate and turning five within those very specific windows and again the windows for TK is September 2nd through April 12th preparing for registration we have Miss Beagle Sure she's on here she might be I think she was joining us tonight she is my admin assistant you'll get to meet her she is so friendly she's super super helpful she's in our front office she handle student registration online registration technically opens beginning February 1st at 9 a.m. it's all online parents don't need come in and I think parents asked what happens if I don't register for February 1st am I going to lose a spot and my going to be transferred to another school I would say you've got time we don't fill up in close our school in and have to overflow students rarely now I say that occasionally as we get closer to the beginning of school like if we're in June July and August can parents are finishing up their registration there is a chance we could be full so it's very very important that the sooner you get your registration done and complete you have a spot please know this your registration you are not fully registered until you have completed everything with the exception of the immunization so sometimes we see parents go in and they might start the process but I don't necessarily finish it does not mean that we have you in our system as holding a spot the registration needs to be fully completed with the exception of the immunizations and I'll talk about that Just in a minute as we know doctors give shots at certain windows of times when kids are age appropriate and we know that sometimes happens in June and July If you need help with registration or you have questions about registration you can email Miss beagle she's really good about getting back to you she can help facilitate that you can also call the front office she can walk you through it sometimes parents even come in and say I need some help with this is there any way that I can you can walk me for this year in the office she's great she's very very helpful she's also bilingual so she can assist if families on need help I'm speak Spanish fluently so she can help assist in that area as well but you go on to our district website you will click the registration link and you begin the process again I want to encourage families please please please finish your registration every year inevitably we have families that start but don't complete it and they think that they're spot here is their names in our system and we've got them registered and technically we do not not until that that registration is complete things that you need to provide so know this when you open your registration you're going to have to complete both parts 1 and 2 and that's what I was talking about earlier part one you'll fill out that online registration part 2 is the three proofs of residency this is again this is a must-have for any student enrolling TK through 5th grade and we need to have a verification of age so it's important that you have a child's birth certificate a certified birth record or a valid passport we say original only I get when you're doing it online it's kind of a copy so that's okay please don't worry about that and the very last part is part three which is our immunization if you noticed here part 1 and 2 have to be complete an order to guarantee your child has a spot at our school part 3 you can start and then as the date gets closer and you're working with your child's pediatrician or at a health clinic to get all the immunization required you can upload those or provide them we have a health clerk here miss Testa right she'll reach out to families if if the immunization records are not complete technically your child cannot start on the first day of school with very very important that you make sure you have that complete and that document is submitted prior to the first day otherwise your child no matter what grade they're in cannot attend school okay I talked to a little bit already about this just your two are your three documents for proof of residency so you can do property ownership that could be at a tax bill a deed title if your recent give me leasing or renting we just need a copy of that you're going to submit a copy of that agreement in your registration and then two of the following you can either do a bank statement utility bill anything that's a government bill auto insurance health and health Bill all of that works and you're just going to provide a copy of that when you're going to load them and your registration when you're completing that line with your immunization to talked a little bit about this and it's extremely important if you when you're enrolling your student and any grade at our school if your child has any help or medical conditions or issues that you think that we as the school need to know about and supporting your student whether they're diabetic or maybe have food allergies it's really important that you guys know that on the registration form we have a district nurse who overlooks in oversees all the registration and communicates with Miss Tessa our health aide and we make sure that we have all the proper supports in place prior to the first day especially if it's a food allergy or some times that we have diabetic students on campus we meet with those families prior to the first day and we work really hard to put protocols in place so that your store your students stay safe here with us. Any prescribed medication from over-the-counter technically buyers the form to fill that be filled out and stamped by the doctor and order for our health nurse Miss Testa to be able to administer it otherwise we cannot have any student medication and that includes inhalers and that's pretty common we have those on campuses your student has asthma okay immunization records you'll see the laws changed over the years at once you login it'll have a list of all the immunization pediatrician and health I'm fully aware what's required to attend public school so just make sure that you're up to date on that the only thing that has come up in my presentation parents ask about is The covid-19 Shins we do not require so don't worry about it if your child has it that's great if they don't it's not something that is required for them to attend school you can visit I've listed a website here if you have questions about student immunization Parents and Guardians no longer can submit a exemption it used to be that if they had a religious exemption that they were interested in not having a child immunized they can bypass that that law has and so we require that every student has been immunizied for more information you guys can visit that website in my computer cuz I'm I'm getting my battery real quick let me shift I apologize okay so if you're thinking about having your students attend what we call it District transfer this is something that is available within our district our board believes that parents have choice I always say why would anybody want to go to any other school than Oster we're such an amazing school but sometimes that happens do to either a daycare situation sometimes families just need a little more flexibility with their work schedule and a school might be closer that's in our district but maybe not necessarily here at Oster that's that's all an option our families if you are thinking that you would like to have your student being on an intra-district transfer you it's really really important that you register first at your home school and the district office does require these applications to be filled out on or before March 1st and again they do notify you if you are interested in and having this option you have to fill out the app Haitian District goes through the process you'll be notified no later than August if we have space available and again when we talked about intra-district transfer versus inter-district transfer I just want to clarify this is an intra and then there's also inter Intra is within the district Inter is outside of our district so sometimes we have families and we probably have some here night that reside in another school district maybe they reside in Los Gatos Cambrian you have to go through the process if you would like your child to attend Union School District Schools. Specifically Oster these are the steps that you need to follow again it's an application that you're going to fill out once approved by the Home District you can then apply to be at one of our schools but if your home school is in another district you first have to register in that District that's really really important cuz I think family sometimes try to register first here but they don't have the correct address say maybe live in another District was very very important if you're outside of the district you first register in The District in which you reside in our live in and then intra-district is within the district and so you're just got back to the applique you can go to our district website you fill that out they probably will have you attend first your home school and like I said in an August the reach out to you to let you know if you were approved to go to another school other than Oster childcare okay so we have an amazing child care provider on campus and Sewer District it's we call it our extended care I introduced Carmela earlier she's here and she'll be able to answer questions if you how many questions in your putting them in the chat box again please feel free to do that that's down below but she'll have answer questions we do provide before and after school child care it's open most of the school year including our staff learning day so sometimes we have non-student days but the teachers are here working our child care is open for parents who obviously need to work and need their children to be supervised and we also offer camps during our holidays any of our local holidays whether it's sometimes our winter break our February break spring break typically that the district will offer a camp it might not necessarily be here at Oster sure but it is within our district a lot of our Oscar kids attend those camps it's very common and then also we're running a summer camp which just happens to be here at Oster for next year so Camp happen throughout our district like they're not always here at Oster but it is something that the available Carmella runs a very comprehensive program she she make sure that the students if they are primary student in kindergarten they typically stay with those Kinder students in that extend care if they are a first or second grader typically their group together if they're in intermediate students they make sure that they also integrate and only play with the intermediate students she has Extended Care tutors that work with her students she provides homework Time Craft Time STEAM activities she also works on social emotional and she also is part of our PBIS is a positive behavior intervention system so her Pro it's fantastic I highly recommend it is me real quick the one thing that I would say that comes up every year if you are a family and you know that you're going to need to have I'm trying to care provided for your student once they enroll I strongly recommend you reach out to Carmela and you start the application process right away we do fill up with our extended care and daycare really quickly it gets full and we have a waiting list which it's really hard to tell families I'm so sorry we're full right now we can't take another student but we have you on the waitlist parents always say well when do you think I'll get in we wish we have that crystal ball we don't necessarily have that I'm it just it's again it's pending space sometimes we have students move or drop out sometimes we have the ability to hire extra and staff members but that's not always an option for us so again the sooner that you know you need childcare the sooner you're going to want to sign up the process for doing that you're going to go you can also go to our district website there is an Extended Care link there where you can get more information you can also call Carmela I'm you can email her again she's really good about getting back to you but again I strongly recommend family should not wait on this start to put your name on the list so that she can ensure that we have space for you when families when we're doing the 6 weeks of the shortened day where are kindergarteners at rtkr is get out early she can provide care for that as well I know that that can be a little tricky for parents who work my my own personal children attended the on-site daycare at their school as well obviously cuz I was working parents so I encourage you to use it again it's a great resource that we have here and you'll go meet Carmela and she can answer any questions later tonight if you have them I'm going to stop sharing my screen and again I just want to remind families down at the bottom of your screen there's a chat box you can put any questions on there that you would like let me switch over to a Google doc right now and see if I can pull that up and begin to answer questions and again I have wonderful Miss Jessica Yu who is taking notes for me so again if you would like to put something in that chat box and we can help facilitate. Click on this really quick okay so here we go I've got some questions the first question that I have is there a difference between what they need to do to be ready for TK versus Kinder given the age requirement for TK's lower will the day or day curriculum taken into account or ages of children and TK No I would say you know Tara probably answer this better but you know again we recognize those students that are in are entering TK a lot of them are just learning their letters and sounds so that's very very common on some of them still don't know how to write their name and that's okay she is well-versed in teaching that that is part of her curriculum again we do want to teach the kids to be independent so again that fine motor having them cut hold a pencil be able to toilet themselves carry a backpack open their food all of that is the same for in case those are kind of universal skills that we want to ensure that our students have in our program but as far as academics go at the teachers are prepared to differentiate them instruction but I think about kind of daily living skills and the more independent skills that students need to be ready for TK or K that's kind of the same the kind of need to do you know we don't have kids that come in pull-ups it's really really important that they are potty trained there I know how to express maybe when they need something or they need help with something if they're not there yet that's against something that you guys are going to want to work on and encourage that but yeah it's about the same and the curriculum is different again they have different standards we recognize when they come to TK they are four still and that's okay like we know their brain development is different and so the teachers differentiate. For that okay do we provide do we provide three proofs of residency if we have other children already attending Oster great question yes you have to this comes up every year or so for every student that you're enrolling On different years you have to provide proof of residency so if you are enrolling let's say you're a parent tonight and you're visiting and you're going to enroll a 4th grader and a fifth grader your enrolling at the same time whatever you provide for them it's fine but again if you already have a student attending Oster and let's say 2nd grade or 3rd grade and now you're enrolling a TK or K you still have to provide proof of residency that's an excellent question I got a border question a dual zone okay so this question is our house is in the border of Oster and card Carlton we call that are dual Dual Zone should we register both schools or should we just pick one in case we don't get into one school that we register can we automatically get into the other school I can't promise anything again registration I don't I don't have the window peek at their window registration for Carlton it starts the same February 1st I say yes you can register pick your school you cannot register at both school so that computer will not let you do that I have to choose your school of preference if you change your mind and you start the process let's say and your enrolling in Carlton and you think I just really like the principal on the presentation she gave or the TK and Kinder presentation the you know if that's something that you would like to change midway that's fine too you can you can email us but you can only register at one school so you're going to need to pick at typically you pick one school that will be the school that your child remains at through fifth grade however sometimes there's been changes sometimes our families that were first registered at Carlton and they were in second grade and it just wasn't a good fit we're asking to change to come to Oster that's fine too that happens sometimes after a couple of years of being in a school community and you know it might not be the right fit for your child and you need to switch over to the other school that's fine that's that's doable depending if we have space but again if both schools are full and you didn't complete the registration for either school technically you could be overflowed so there is no guarantee like any school patient you just want to make sure that you get it completed and again you have plenty of time don't worry February March is yet you're not going to get locked out of the system we have plenty of room at that at that time how do we learn about the curriculum for 2nd and 3rd grade second and third grade curriculum we have a open house coming up what I encourage parents to do is to go on to our website and click on I I I believe state standards are pretty similar across the state of California for second and third grade that doesn't change we have an open house that's happening we encourage our families and that's happening I want to say in May you're going to check our website on our calendar and we encourage you to come visit our school we're going to have a steam night I think that night we're going to have some activities before open house are teachers will open their classroom for parents to come is it we want to encourage you to take a look at that you know if you have specific questions regarding second and third grade curriculum reach out to me you can shoot me an e-mail I'm happy to answer those questions we do have a curriculum that we use all throughout grades for our language arts our math and our science it's pretty standard it's what the district adopts that doesn't change depending on your grade level stuff your specifically wanting to know about social emotional curriculum again it's the same with the district adopt a curriculum and that's used throughout our grade levels again we build on language and common common verbiage which help our students feel free to email me if maybe your question wasn't answered I can I can work with you directly how do you ensure that case is different from TK when kids do K at Oster well our teachers work side-by-side with a plan together and they make sure they're not doing this now is there review absolutely is there review in first grade from things they did in kindergarten yes the same is true for every grade level if your child is in second grade you can bet the beginning of second grade they're going to review a lot of what they did in first grade that's very common no matter what grade they're in on the teachers plan together and so they make sure that they're not doing the same thing but they do review often and that's no different than any other grade level EC is extended care of bailable to those first six weeks of school yes absolutely we we make that available before and after school at 11 I think it was like 11:30 release time Extended Care is available and then is extended care registration open that's a great question Carmela do you want to unmute and see talk about that So for TK/K registration will open on the first day that General registration is open for school so February 1st still open for tkk if your child is older of it will not I know there may be some older parents will not open till March if your new family perfect I think let's see I think I've said everything my Kinder teachers do do you want to add anything before we get ready to wrap up yeah I think you've done a great job covering a lot of lot of things Lisa one suggestion I'd have for just getting ready for tk&k would be Again working on those Independence skills doing a lot of gross motor as and fine motor skills as far as like building blocks building Lego those are the things that really helped them to focus and have a little bit more concentration in class and limited screen time that would probably my biggest advice for getting ready for school I forgot about limiting screen time that's excellent good suggestion anybody else Tara Cindy Debbie you guys want to add anything Just kind of piggy back to you on what Linda was saying have them practice using scissors to one of the things when starting Kindergarten and starting TK they they talk a lot about like at my fingers it's hard for me to write so practice coloring and using scissors and building up their fine motor skills too yeah I agre I'm seeing a question pop up real quick because I think one day you mentioned that Electronics do we use the electronics in the classroom so yes we do have our students have access to iPads and Chromebook again I will say that there used very limited like minimally in our primary grades I don't think I've ever walked into TK to see them I don't know I could be wrong Tara I feel like I'm in your classroom all the time but I don't see them do you use them sometimes in TK? yes we use them for we have like read aloud that we can do on because they can't read yet so they've just learned how they can go find a book that's interesting but they don't play any sort of mindless games they're always educational in some way but it's very rarely too and then I do know this are Kinder teachers. I sometimes use them when they're doing their literacy centers so our district has District approved apps that are pushed out onto the iPads that all of our students in the district have access to specifically for kindergarten they're Reading Readiness working on phonics reading math and sometimes teachers will use the iPads during Center so when they're rotating the kids through the center's but again it is not used to does a babysitter or like as a free choice it is very closely monitored and the teachers very strategically have them use a specific app and it's probably at the most for about 15 minutes and they they get up and they rotate to the next Center so it's not very long is there only one class for TK for 24 students what if there's more that's a great question this year we didn't quite 24 I think right now we're at possibly 18 maybe 19 students if we had more than 24 we technically would have to open another class what the challenge here that we find it at Oster and it's a good challenge is we are a school whose had really positive enrollment we are full and don't really we're using every single classroom on site so we do technically have another classroom to offer so I think before we would you know physically build a building on campus probably a student would be overflowed to another neighboring School within our district for TK I would like to say is easier if we could to open another classroom here and offer but we just don't have the building space again where school that's impacted ironically Oster and Carlton are the two most impacted schools within the district so you know sometimes our students do get overflowed to other schools if our space is limited okay oh Extended Care is there Screen Time & Expense Carmela do you want to answer that one and we don't have a screen time and extended care I like it at least I said it's very very minimal like maybe it's the Friday before a holiday and so we're just having a fun day and we might watch like a Disney movie the other scream time would be older kids who are doing homework on their computers that were signed by their teachers great siblings the question came up oh I do want to say this this voice comes up and I don't know if we have any families here tonight that have twins the question sometimes comes up when they're enrolling their students can the twins be in the same classroom together we typically do not do that because we really want to work on fostering each individual students own personality and encourage that and encourage their friendships and their uniqueness and so we do not put twins together there are some exceptions to that and if a family would like to reach out and have me consider that when you're enrolling a student I am open to considering that for our primary grade and TK and K anything beyond that first second third fourth grade we do separate Twins and we find it's it's just better and the kids do better they kind of get their own and make their own friends and just build their own identity and that's what we want for each of our students somebody asked if we are overflowing do we keep siblings at the same school we work very hard if your student already if you have a student who's already attending Oster and let's say they might be in third or fourth grade and you're registering and for whatever reason you didn't make the deadline for registering on time for Kinder and you're being noticed notice that you're being over load or we don't have any more space technically your child would be overflowed to another school there is not a priority given to siblings already enrolled here so but if a family would like to take the sibiling and move them to the Overflow school just for the purposes of keeping kids together if that's easier and their space you're welcome to do that but again there is no priority given to sibling already attending here at Oster or any other schools okay well I think I just want to thank you guys again for joining me tonight this information and the recorded session will be on our website if you go to our website and I encourage you poke around you'll see my newsletters you'll see our calendar you kind of get a feel for our school community and you know you can I think the staff is listed on our web page and again we just we're excited to always encourage families to join our community oh I do want to say this this didn't come up we do have some play dates that we will be scheduling with our home and Club as we get closer to the start of school what happens is once you complete your registration we will have your email on file and Home and school club which is like our PTA supports us it provides financial support to our classrooms in our teachers and our programs here at Oster we encourage our families to get involved in home and school club at again it is the backbone of how we run some of our programs and amazing activities here at Oster but they will reach out they will schedule some play dates prior to school starting we also will have a day that are TK & K teachers will have the students come in and meet the teacher I'm get to walk through the classroom and that is I think the day before school starts your child will get that information again via email similar to you'll know cuz yes I will how we know who's our child's teacher that all comes in email form prior to the first day of school so you'll want to check your inbox as we get closer we do not send it typically weeks before it's it's about 1 2 days before school starts will send that email certainly kindergarten gets a priority in that cuz we have we have a welcome day prior to school starting so they kind of get acclimated to our school so look for that information once you complete your registration and again we're just so excited for you guys to join our community and I just want to wish everyone a good evening and thank you for joining me Bye
